These patchwork pieces are fabrics of contemplation, in dialogue with nature. The natural world speaks to me, and I try to respond.
The palette is collected from my decades-old stash of fabric, colors found rather than mixed. Each piece is an ecosystem of colors, evoking the happenstance of color juxtapositions on a beach, in a streambed, a meadow, or a forest. Each one is its own world, and I exist completely within that interactive space while it lasts.
All my work, in various media, has to do with immersion in a world, a moment, an interaction, giving full attention to what is here, what is happening now.
